Guðrið Højgaard

Guðrið Højgaard is the director of tourism at Visit Faroe Islands, whose task it is to put a small, relatively unknown North Atlantic country on the World Map – something many maps still omit. Guðrið, who has an MBA in Design & Communication, has vast experience within the tourism industry. She has worked as marketing manager for Visit Denmark in Sweden and marketing director for Stockholm Visitors Board, and has held her position at Visit Faroe Islands since 2012. One of the Visit Faroe Islands’ main challenges this year was to welcome 11,000 visitors – approximately 20 times the country’s commercial capacity – to the Faroe Islands for the total solar eclipse in March.
