WHAT IS THE DIGITAL TOURISM THINK TANK?
The Digital Tourism Think Tank is the name given to the latest initiative to provide thought leadership to the tourism industry in digital marketing best practice.The website, thinkdigital.travel, will become home to the Think Tank, offering an invaluable knowledge resource for the tourism industry, catered for the needs of Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs) in particular.
The web platform will provide a gateway to knowledge and learning, becoming the ‘go-to’ resource for Destination and e-Marketing Managers throughout the industry. It will provide users with a range of services, including in-depth industry innovation and campaign analysis, an online repository for capacity building, a live knowledge stream and a line-up of webinars and workshops.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH THE DIGITAL TOURISM THINK TANK?
The Digital Tourism Think Tank is designed to be a participative initiative. If you are working in tourism marketing, we want to hear from you, work with you and learn from you. Knowledge sharing is at the very core of what we do and we count on the open and collegial spirit of the tourism industry to make it happen. Unlike other industries, tourism professionals see value in taking an open approach to sharing and learning and, in recognising this, we decided to create a platform to facilitate that.
There are a number of specific ways you can get involved:
- Case studies - If you're a marketeer and want to showcase your recent campaigns or strategy please don't hesitate to get in touch with us! We are constantly on the look out for interesting case studies to highlight where innovation is happening in tourism. If we decide to feature yours as a case study, we'll conduct a video interview in beautiful HD, carry out a full analysis of your work and publish it on think digital.travel.
- Events - We are always looking for the industry's leading innovators to join us at events and share their work with others. Our flagship event, the Digital Tourism Innovation Campus is all about sharing best practice and case studies but we have many smaller workshops and interventions year-round, especially at the leading tourism fairs.
- Expertise - If you're an expert in digital tourism then we want to hear from you! We're always looking for leading experts to join our carefully selected team and promote digital best practice to industry practitioners. We are looking for experts in everything from SEO to Strategy and your contribution to the Think Tank so don't hesitate to contact us.
- Workshops - If you'd like to get a more 'drilled down' approach on any of the topics covered by the Digital Tourism Think Tank then why not sign-up for one of our workshops? We've teamed up with some of the leading experts and companies in digital to put on a programme of small, hands-on workshops which will help you learn and develop new skills.

Firstly, if you like what we do then thank you, we are flattered! We are striving every day to make the Think Tank more extensive and even more valuable and we can only do that by hearing about what we do well and where we can improve. If you'd like to talk to use about creating bespoke solutions, we would of course love to hear from you. We start out with a blank sheet of paper and take it from there, so if you have an idea, suggestion or a specific project in mind, we'd like to work on that with you. The Think Tank is of course all about best practice, benchmarking and capacity building but through our parent company SE1 Media, we can also work with you to develop strategies, conduct digital audits and carry-out training programmes to benefit your own destination.
DO I HAVE TO PAY TO USE THE DIGITAL TOURISM THINK TANK?
No, at present the Digital Tourism Think Tank is 100% free of charge to use. This has been possible thanks to the strong support of our partners who have worked with us from an early stage to bring our ideas to life and make it fully accessible to the industry. Our vision when creating the Digital Tourism Think Tank was to create a resource that is open to anybody working in digital tourism marketing and not to restrict it to a narrow group of paying members.
In the future we may choose to introduce a subscription level to the Digital Tourism Think Tank in order to provide very content specific bespoke information for partners or raw data behind our benchmark's and other activities, however this will not impact on the free platform existing at present, which will always remain free.
DO YOU HAVE A NEWSLETTER?
Yes we do. Our newsletter aims to deliver content that is relevant to your interests as a tourism marketer. Once you've signed up to our newsletter, we'll send you information about what is going on in the tourism industry on a fortnightly basis, including special features, case studies, best practice reports and of course information about our upcoming events and workshops.
I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A CASE STUDY, BEST PRACTICE OR WORKSHOP, WHERE CAN I SHARE IT?
If you have an idea for a case study, best practice or workshop that you think is relevant for the Digital Tourism Think Tank, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to see what we can do. We are constantly looking for best practice within the industry and are open to suggestions as we believe it is important to work closely with Tourist Boards and other organizations in order to be able to showcase great campaigns and work in digital. WHO IS BEHIND THE DIGITAL TOURISM THINK TANK?
The Digital Tourism Think Tank is a SE1 Media led initiative and has been developed to create a programme of activities which aim to promoting innovation and digital excellence throughout the tourism industry. The initiative really focuses on providing a knowledge repository and reference for marketers in their daily work. SE1 Media is a destination marketing organization founded by Nicholas Hall and aiming for excellence with all projects that SE1 Media is doing.
