#DTTT Campus + Joel Thorpe
#DTTT Campus is nearly here (put 20 – 21 September in your diaries, folks) and we’re getting ready to take over the island of Jersey with a host of content-focused and immersive workshops to inspire your marketing strategies. Joel Thorpe is one of our guest content creators and will be joining us at #DTTT Campus. Joel’s hosting Shaping Brand Stories Through Video Storytelling over the 2-day content marketing event and we decided to catch up with him and find out a bit more.
Hello, please introduce yourself
Hey everyone, my name’s Joel Thorpe. I’m 20 years old, and I’m an adventure lifestyle photographer and filmmaker based in Brighton, England.
Tell us about the piece of content that you are most proud of
Technically it’s a collection of content, but I produced a 10 episode series of a road trip I did around Italy. Each film has a different emotion embedded within it, dependent upon the mood and atmosphere of each location. It’s a really reflective series for me, and holds some great memories.
What techniques and expertise you will cover during your workshop?
As the creative lead on a collaborative project with the Jersey Oyster Company, I’ll be demonstrating how to shoot beautiful video content to bring a brand’s story to life. I’ll be teaching attendees how you can use various film techniques to capture and create an immersive experience.
In your experience, what makes a great piece of content?
In my opinion, the best content is that which makes you feel as if you’re somewhere else mentally. Escapism drives my own work, so if I gain that sense in someone else’s, I really engage with it.
Tell our attendees why they shouldn’t miss your workshop
The skills learned in my workshop will allow attendees to not only strengthen their videography but also help visually craft a brand’s story. We also get to adventure out to Jersey’s seaside and experience the oyster beds. Overall, it’s set to be an exciting and valuable day for aspiring creators.
