Wong Jiali

First of all, introduce yourself by telling us a bit about what you do, where you work and something that you enjoy doing in your spare time.

I'm the Assistant Director at Singapore Tourism Board. In my spare time I like to read, listen to podcasts and follow the latest trends.

Can you tell us about the latest project that you’ve worked on? Give some detail on why it was important for you or for the company and what you enjoyed about it?

‍

STB's Tcube campaign. I lead the team managing digital programmes for the tourism sector and I enjoy the impact the projects create.

‍

‍

If applicable, how have you seen the tourism industry change since you've been working in it and how do you feel it has improved for women?

‍

Seen more success use cases and POC driven through Tcube and our stakesholders positive feedback support it. With more tech upskilling across business functions like Marketing and other roles in tourism, more women in tourism sector are getting skilled in digitalisation.

Now thinking about the future, what would you want to see change or improve in the industry? How (if at all) would this improve the role of women in the industry?

‍

More women being embraced for the dual and triple roles they often play - be it a bridge being business and tech uses.

‍

What things are in place at your workplace or in your every day that enable you to excel?

‍

Flexible working hours, no gender bias - woman can and should lean in and sit at the table.

The official IWD theme of 2022 is #BreakTheBias - If any, what biases within your role and/or industry would you want to be challenged?

That working mum cannot have it all.

What's the best piece of career advice you've received?

‍

Never stop learning.

Lean in, don't let multiple responsibilities affect you, your capability expands with confidence.

Wong Jiali is currently Assistant Director of Singapore Tourism Board’s Business Innovation & Data Partnerships department (BIDP), part of the Board’s Technology Transformation Group (TTG). 

‍

As Assistant Director of the BIDP team, Jiali currently leads a team of 9 to drive digital initiatives and resources to support Singapore tourism sector’s digital transformation, though Tcube. Tcube, or the Tourism Technology Transformation Cube, is a hybrid innovation space that brings STB's digital initiatives, resources and thought leadership content onto a single platform. Key initiatives include the Singapore Tourism Accelerator and Data Analytics SHift programme (DASH).  Jiali has over 10 years of cross-functional experiences across project management, strategy and business development in the tourism sector under her belt.
