As a member, we regularly receive interesting and sometimes challenging questions from other members. Here's one we received recently, that we thought we'd share in the Extended Team. Do you have your own experience in measuring impact? We would love to hear from you.

Do you have any cases on how DMOs are monitor the tourism impact on their destination?

KPIs and measuring indexes: We had a panel discussion about the PiLOT project in France, which introduces measures in the Brittany region. It also provided a comparison between regional and national data.

We were joined by a number of experts on data visualisation and making sense of indexes in Tourism and Travel on online platforms. They introduce measures for competitiveness and growth in destinations. You can watch the talk by CitiBank and Citi Ventures here. The Data Appeal projected for the Veneto Region is another very good example of datasets.

Further to that, MarketingOost presented us with a then newly launched database from a regional perspective. It is a good example of how data could be managed, sorted, and published. You can find more about this project here.

On the subject of sustainability, we also had Tarek from Murmuration, who presented a very comprehensive talk on the types of data needed to have in hand to address sustainability.

We also thought we would take the opportunity to ask our team member Rashi Maithul, who previously worked with Green Destinations if she had some thoughts from this perspective too. Here's what she was able to share:
