Day 3- It's a Wrap!

During the sessions of day 3 at XDW, we discussed and ideated on diverse topics, including digitalisation, campaigns, AI and also circular destination economy.

During the sessions of day 3 at XDW, we discussed and ideated on diverse topics, including digitalisation, campaigns, AI and also circular destination economy.

We were joined by Tiago Relvão (BD4.ai) and Sveinn Birkir Björnsson (Visit Iceland) for a panel discussion on digital solutions and campaigns. Whilst the opportunities are endless, there are key things to consider when embarking on a digital journey, such as:

- What is the ultimate goal? What is it that you like to achieve?

- What results are you looking for you?

- What do users/travellers need? What are they looking for that can be provided to them through digital initiatives?

Tiago's top suggestion is that "From the data and AI perspective, digitalisation should assist DMOs and organisations in getting to know their visitors, their interests and travel plans."

For the final session of the day, we were joined by Adriana (CSCP) and Olivér (Greencentive) for a panel discussion on circular economy and destination experiences. Bringing circularity into business models requires reflection and investment, but we can start with small initiatives and grow as a united industry. Tourism is one of the biggest socio-economic activities. It creates jobs and influences destination income. However, it is not free of challenges. It is one of the main causes of environmental impact and pollution.
