Module 1: Introduction to Sustainability Co-Design

Throughout this first module, we'll navigate sustainability with the purpose of identifying the main factors that play a role in the sustainable development of a destination.

This programme aims at empowering you to become the advocate of sustainability in your organisation and driving your DMO in leading sustainable development throughout the industry. Our emphasis will rest upon the perspective of sustainability as a process rather than a goal. By doing this, we'll highlight the importance of bringing attention to the ongoing transformation and iteration of practices, rather than seeing sustainability as an ideal final state.

After completing Module 1, you can expect to be able to 'Frame your Sustainability Journey', which sets a clear roundup of critical points, champions, pressures, motivations and obstacles. This includes:

  • Taking stock of the current situation.
  • Framing key challenges.
  • Setting out hopes and fears.
  • Exploring layers of motivations.
  • Gathering a collective view.
  • Recruiting a panel of diverse views.

The module consists of two live thought-provoking sessions and a variety of on-demand material. We have created a PDF Guide to help you decide which case studies and activities will be most useful for your DMO, which you can access and download below:
