With the emergence of new channels and formats, having a clear strategic direction is ever more important. With this in mind, decision makers need to understand how to improve efficiency and maximise return on investment.

Horizon technologies offer significant potential to assist DMOs through MarTech solutions. However, with these being untested there is a need to better understand the landscape and identify the leading tools with the most potential.

Our State of Destination Marketing Report 2024, presented a strategic outlook on how DMOs approach marketing activities. We're now taking this research to the next level by looking into the more granular technologies that are used on a daily basis.

Challenges

1. Solutions are unknown

The MarTech landscape is constantly evolving, with the regular development of new tools. DMOs are struggling to keep track of all the available technology suppliers and the opportunities presented by their respective tools.

2. Determining Potential

With tools being untested, there is a reluctance to invest in changing operational processes. DMOs need more information to better understand the opportunities and potential challenges arising from implementing different MarTech solutions.

3. Integration

Through omni-channel approaches, DMOs need to carefully consider the integration of tools between all platforms to ensure compatibility. Understanding the ease of use of each MarTech solution is essential to ensure that it can be an effective tool to boost the productivity and performance of destination marketers.

A comprehensive report that outlines the types of technology that DMOs are prioritising in their marketing activities. This will consider how investment levels are changing and the relationships developed between DMOs and technology providers.

Directory of MarTech Solutions

A detailed overview of the various MarTech tools available, giving a clear description of its purpose, strengths and target audience. We'll also evaluate the ease of use and aim to incorporate reviews by DMOs to present a clear and concise picture of the tools with the most potential.

Meetings

The working group participants meet regularly to openly share ideas and discuss the project's progress and move forward with each phase of the initiative. Here's an overview of the most recent meetings
