In collaboration with Event Connectors, Amsterdam&Partners' events database was replaced by a smart tool that combines automatic data feeds with editorial control, multilingualism and digital further development.
Just like Rotterdam, Amsterdam used the NDTRC, the national database for tourism, recreation and culture of VVV Nederland, before 2018. However, Amsterdam soon encountered limitations: the joint database did not meet the city's ambitions to present Amsterdam's cultural offerings in a contemporary, multilingual and automated manner. The result: its own database, linked to our Tool (formerly The Feed Factory), which makes Amsterdam's cultural offerings more visible to both residents and (international) visitors.
The challenge for Amsterdam&Partners was to develop its own cultural events calendar that would be scalable, editorially manageable and suitable for an international target audience.
In addition, it was important that data could be automatically retrieved from a large number of cultural institutions, such as Paradiso, Het Concertgebouw and DeLaMar Theater and that this information could be easily translated for an international audience.

In collaboration with Event Connectors, the existing database was replaced by a smart tool that combines automatic data feeds with editorial control, multilingualism and digital further development. The website itself was developed by web builder Greenberry.
The solution is an Events Calendar (as part of the I Amsterdam platform) that presents activities in the capital to both residents and visitors. Users can easily discover what there is to do in the city using user-friendly filters: attractions and sights, concerts and music, food and drink, festivals and events, museums and galleries, nightlife, accommodation, exhibitions, transport, performances, shopping and markets.
In addition, Uitagenda Amsterdam provided scope for further development and broader accessibility. This included the introduction of an accessibility feature aimed at museum visitors. As a result, information regarding museum accessibility can now be obtained more quickly and clearly. Event Connectors also assists with the offering of the I Amsterdam City Card.
Thanks to the collaboration with over 40 cultural institutions, Amsterdam is now digitally connected via one shared, up-to-date and clear agenda.
Our step-by-step approach:
The I Amsterdam Uitagenda went live on January 1, 2020 and has since become the go-to place to see the capital's cultural offerings. This Uitagenda now includes:

Did you know that… Amsterdam celebrates its 750th anniversary in 2025? A milestone that will be celebrated for a year with events for young and old, spread throughout the city. The Uitagenda plays a major role in this as a guide to everything there is to do in this festive anniversary year. There is even a special filter to easily find related activities.
And what else?: The tool is continuously being further developed based on feedback from Amsterdam Partners, cultural institutions and user data. The collaboration with Event Connectors continues to focus on innovation, automation and user-friendliness.
What does Amsterdam&Partners say about the collaboration?: “Their smart solutions align well with Amsterdam: a city that wants to be accessible to all visitors. We are particularly proud of the custom-made accessibility features!” – Melanie Bemer, Amsterdam&Partners
